Advisors
YES Opportunities' Advisors are appointed by the President of the organization. Their primary role is in referring interested applicants to be considered for receiving scholarship or, now, eligibility for endowment. YES Advisors are responsible for providing support services, such as fundraising, for the Foundation. They also function as liaisons to and for the Board of Directors. Finally, they attend community/information meetings relevant to our organization.
Mrs. Altamae Brown Bailey- Native of Sydney, Virginia. Attended Kittrell Junior College in Kittrell, North Carolina. Retired Chemical Operations Specialist.
Mr. Dennis Hamilton Bailey- Native of Rahway, New Jersey. Served in the United States Navy. 36 year professional career in field of Electronics.
Mrs. Marsha Byrd- Native of New Jersey. Worked in Prince George's County School System for over 20 years.
Mrs. Virginia L. Brown Castro- Native of Warfield, Virginia. Completed her secondary education in Newark, New Jersey. Retired Food Lab Technician.
Mr. Herbie Castro- Native of New York. Operates own travel agent business and occasionally coordinates travel for YES Opportunities.
Ms. Maria Cornish-Picott- Native of the Eastern Shore, Maryland. Received Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Strayer University in Washington, DC. Extensively experienced professional administrator who now works in Finances with the Federal Government.
Rev. Dr. Lorenzo S. Edwards- Native of Ocala, Florida. Graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors and Masters degrees, and from the International Interdenominational Seminary, received an Honorary Doctors degree. Retired Dean of the Hampton Campus of the College of Central Florida (CF).
Mrs. Mary Ann Goodman- Native of Washington DC. Retired from the Federal Government with 35 years of experience in Personnel.
Rev. Dr. Faye S. Gunn- In addition to receiving Bachelor's degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, Rev. Gunn also has received a Masters of Arts in Secondary Education Administration, Bowie State University, Bowie, Maryland; Masters of Divinity, School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond, Virginia; and Doctor of Ministry Degree, Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC. Retired Assistant Minister of Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
Ms. Mary Hodge- 35 year career with the Federal Government. Enjoys her retirement with frequent traveling.
Mr. John K. Meiners, Jr.- Business Administration graduate from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Registered Securities Broker for over 29 years.
Mr. Michael C. Norvell, Esquire- Native of North Carolina. Graduated from the University of Florida, School of Law.
